Video-machine is using us

We are able to communicate in ways we were not able to in the past. The way we give and take information has changed because of the Web. There is so much information out there now such as Facebook, My Space, You Tube.... How much is too much? Where do we draw the lines of privacy? We need to rethink the way we communicate with each other and rethink the way we receive information.

Google Document

I have never heard of Google document before. It is a good tool to facilitate learning between students. It is a new form of interaction between students. Students can publish their work online. They can share their documents with other students in their class or in other parts of the nation. It is not only used by students, teachers also use it, such as for meetings. Google docs makes the classroom more efficient, saves time, and it seems fun for the students.

Virtual corporation video

In class we watched a video where students used a virtual corporation computer program to learn about supply and demand in economics. Students used spreadsheets to track their data they recorded from their corporation. They then use the spreadsheets to make charts and graphs. The spreadsheets and graphs allow students to analyze their corporation's progress. This program lets students learn about business and economics from a personalized view point because student's get to create their own company.

Video on middle shool news cast

The video we watched in ED 483 in class showed middle schoolers using technology in the school. They were creating a news cast that would be shown to the school. The students used a video camera, a digital camera, and the computer for word processing, internet and video editing. This video is almost 10 years old, so its quite outdated. Students in the video could not even type, they used just one finger. Also, the teacher was not even present; students were teaching their peers about the technology.
Students today are much more proficient in technology than the students in this video. Kids today use echnology all the time; they have their own cell phones, laptops, PSPs, and iPods. Thay can type and text will ease. When I was in middle school in the 90s, I didn't even know how to turn on a computer. However, now that technology is integrated into our everyday life, we are forced to learn it. This video shows how much technology has progressed just in the past decade.
