A vision of K-12 students

This is a video with student who are "digital natives." These kids are born in 1995 and after. One fact was that half of the population do not graduate. This number is staggering. Where do these people go? What do they do? The students in the video also say that their teachers do not use technology in the classroom, so how are they suppose to learn it? Teachers may not know about new technology, they may not want to change, or they do not have the money or resources to get new technology in their classroom. Teachers need to be aware of the current technology so they can enhance learning. These students are asking for engagement, they want to create something, they want learning to be fun.

  1. Being aware of technology is a good idea, but some schools are just too poor to integrate it. Those students who are digital natives and have all kinds of technology at home probably have a hard time with these facts. Any thoughts on what to do in a case like this? On another note, learning should be fun an engaging where possible... but aren't we doing them a disservice by advertising the idea that learning is only fun when you have technology?

  2. The fact that only half the population graduates, is almost incomprehensible to me.
